Rodney Strong- Wine Club Newsletter
Happy Harvest to Wine Club Members!
As a result of the warm weather we experienced in Sonoma County this past June, harvest has begun a little early at Rodney Strong this year. Much of our Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir has already been picked and we are quite excited about the results. It looks to be another stellar vintage year.
This summer’s concert season was a great success, and we hope you were able to enjoy it as much as we did. Michael McDonald, Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum, Norman Brown, Dwight Yoakum, and Dave Koz were among our top performers this year, with BB King rocking the house during Labor Day weekend. Now we are looking forward to our intimate Rockaway Vineyard wine club dinner on September 14th, which will celebrate the release of our three single-vineyard Cabernets from Alexander Valley. Chef Jeff Mall from Zin restaurant will prepare the meal, which will take place in our vineyard overlooking the valley. And don’t forget about our harvest party on September 28th, which will feature a traditional BBQ, grape stomp competition, wine games, and live music.
We are incredibly excited about your fall shipment this year, and we think you will be too. The 2011 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon highlights flavors of red plums and boysenberries, with soft tannins that make it enjoyable the next three to six years. Also included is the 2011 Knotty Vines Zinfandel, which bursts of fresh, bright berries and a dash of peppery spice. Don’t forget to take advantage of our special pricing on both of these delicious wines through October 31, 2013.
Here’s to another great vintage!
